Read More Jessica Gagné is a Toronto-based lawyer who is passionate about the law and committed to providing excellent client service in the areas of family law, child protection law, education law, and youth criminal justice. Jessica obtained a Juris Doctor from the University of Victoria Faculty of Law, graduating at the top of her class. While in law school she received numerous prizes and awards for outstanding academic achievement. Jessica also holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree, with distinction, from the University of Alberta. Following her clerkship at the Supreme Court of Canada and prior to launching her own firm, Jessica practiced at a leading child and family law boutique firm in downtown Toronto. Jessica enjoys legal writing. In addition to founding FamilyWatch, she is a chapter editor of Wilson on Children and the Law and an editor of the Ontario Family Law Reporter. Jessica is very active in the legal community. She is an executive member of the Ontario Bar Association’s Child and Youth Law Section as well as the Ontario Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division. She provides pro bono services to youth and teens through the Teen Legal Helpline, as well as Pro Bono Law Ontario’s Education Law Project. She also volunteers with the Law and Youth Workshop and Pathways to Education. She is an engaged member of Young Women in Law, the Family Lawyers’ Association of Ontario, and the Advocates’ Society. Jessica has extensive public speaking experience. Prior to becoming a lawyer, she worked for the Alberta government, delivering presentations to youth and parents across the province on the subject of post-secondary planning, and taught undergraduate seminars at the University of Alberta on the topic of business plan development. Currently, she is a workshop leader for the University of Toronto’s trial advocacy course, where she helps students develop their oral advocacy skills. Recently, Jessica also guest lectured for the University of Toronto’s Youth, Children, and the Law course. In her spare time, Jessica is an avid traveler.
